Training for students
Biodiversity conservation course prepared for high school students.
High school biodiversity conservation course
In collaboration with the John M. Hyland Institute of Learning, Inc. in Lapu-Lapu City, we have started a pilot biodiversity conservation course, prepared for high school students. We hope to extend the program to other schools in the future.
Biodiversity conservation course in a nutshell
How do we operate and what do we want to achieve thanks to the course?
In response to threats
The Earth faces unprecedented habitat destruction and degradation, impacting all living organisms that inhabit our planet. The causes vary between regions and particular sites, yet many derive from the same denominator. They are mostly a direct result of human activity. Regardless of the country of origin, the consequences are visible with the naked eye. What is more, the problems are not solved, but rather multiply day by day. Therefore, the program is designed to deepen high school students environmental knowledge and introduce them to environmental issues solving in the immediate communities they belong to.
Goal of the Course
The programme carried out through a series of online meetings and lectures where the theoretical knowledge intertwines with practice. Interesting topics related to wildlife conservation are presented by practitioners from various countries (e.g., Poland and Uruguay). This is to trigger interest and passion in biodiversity conservation among programme participants and give them an opportunity to collaborate with peers they would not meet in real life otherwise. The pilot programme began in January 2023 in partnership with the John M. Hyland Institute of Learning, Inc. in Lapu-Lapu City.
